This phoenix is a variant on a previous design, requested by Nicola to be adapted for the upper back.

The phoenix was born as a sun symbol, and as such it represents eternity and the cyclicity of life.

More recently it got associated to the idea of transformation and overcoming a trauma or bad period (represented by fire), symbolizing thus a rebirth.

I absolutly love this!!! =] i´m actually planning on getting it in september. i just need to decide what color to get it in. i like black but that´s very in your face. i thought red but that´s in your face too. i think if i got it in brown like a henna tattoo it would be really cool =] what do you think? Black, Brown, or Red? =]
